On Sunday, a recent poll conducted by SSRI for CNN shed light on President Joe Biden’s challenging path to reelection, contrasting sharply with the accomplishments of 45th President Donald Trump during his first term.
The poll, conducted from April 18-23 with a margin of error of 3.4 percent, starkly contrasts public perceptions of Trump’s presidency versus Biden’s tenure. Among the 1212 likely voters surveyed, a notable 55 percent regarded Trump’s presidency as successful, while only 44 percent considered it a failure. In stark contrast, Biden’s term received a more negative evaluation, with only 39 percent viewing it as successful, while a significant 61 percent deemed it a failure.
These dismal numbers for the incumbent Democrat do not bode well for the upcoming general election. Among those surveyed, 49 percent indicated they would vote for Trump, while only 43 percent favored Biden in November. Eight percent of respondents remained undecided.
In a five-way race, Biden’s reelection prospects appear even bleaker, with Trump securing a clear plurality of support among respondents. Including independent candidates, the poll revealed that 42 percent would support Trump, 33 percent would back Biden, 16 percent favored independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., four percent supported independent candidate Cornel West, and three percent backed Green Party candidate Jill Stein.
These troubling polling figures for Team Biden emerged after Gallup released data indicating that Biden is the least popular president in the past 70 years. Recent polling highlighted Biden’s low approval rating of 38.7 percent in the 13th quarter of his presidency, a stark contrast to his modern predecessors at similar stages. Trump held a 46.8 percent approval rating, Obama 45.9 percent, George W. Bush 51 percent, Clinton 53 percent, George H. W. Bush 41.8 percent, Reagan 54.8 percent, Carter 47.7 percent, Nixon 53.7 percent, and Eisenhower a remarkable 73.2 percent.
These trends underscore growing disillusionment with President Biden’s far-left policies, manifested in economic inflation, a porous southern border, overseas conflicts due to lack of leadership, and political manipulations by Democrat prosecutors. Americans are increasingly eager for a return to the America First policies that characterized Trump’s first term and hold promise for continued national prosperity.
